Celebrating Black History
The second month of the year, the month of lovebirds and presidents… But lest we forget, its also a month to celebrate the rich history of African Americans.
Many times we face prejudice and stigma, feel shame and inferiority or are unaware of the depth of our culture and history, not realizing that knowing our history gives us a sense of pride.
Black History Month is about rebuilding our identity; encouraging commitment to our communities; forging ties between yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrow’s leaders; and nurturing civic duty and social responsibility.
